ELLE GAILEY
INHERITED

10.5 x 11 inches
A visual exploration of inherited items and knowledge. This project draws inspiration from the traditions and aesthetics of quilting through the medium's use of geometric shapes and inherited knowledge. It asks the question "what can I make from what I have been given?"
Each textile outcome utilizes a combination of techniques passed down to me by my nana and are made from inherited vintage textiles and materials from close friends and family. The history of shared knowledge and materials present adds interpersonal connections and memories to the living energy of each piece much like the quilts that inspired this study.
